ODM leader Raila Odinga has warned that the Orange party will be severely affected should members fail to elect its candidates in August.
In a move seen as a scheme to tame a rebellion in his Luo Nyanza backyard where a substantial number of disgruntled candidates have already moved on as independents, Odinga pleaded with supporters to go for six- piece voting system.
Recently, the party held nominations which were engulfed with controversies that prompted a number of disgruntled candidates to quit the party.
“Nominations are over and it’s time to make ODM strong. We may have had our challenges but we learn from mistakes,” said Odinga on Saturday at Uyoma.
The NASA flag bearer added: “Political parties are funded based on the strength in the respective houses. It will be an injustice if you don’t vote ODM candidates.”
Already, ODM bigwigs among them Nicholas Gumbo, Oyugi Magwanga, Paul Otwoma and many others have ditched the party due to shambolic nominations.
An opinion poll collected by the Star shows that a number of independent candidates will win in August elections.
