The International Criminal Court (ICC) should prosecute Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery, ODM MP has said.
According to Oburu Odinga, Nkaissery should be charged over the Wagalla Massacre atrocities he allegedly committed when he was a Major General in the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).
He claimed that the former ODM legislator committed a serious crime on February 10, 1984, where more than 5,000 people died.
"He was part of the orchestrators of the extrajudicial killings, a crime only punishable in international courts like the ICC," Oburu said
The nominated lawmaker added: “The Wagalla killings are part of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation (TJRC) report that forced Nkaissery to ditch ODM when we started pushing for the implementation of the report."
However, Interior Ministry spokesperson Mwenda Njoka dismissed the allegations saying previous commissions of inquiries had not implicated the CS with any wrongdoing.
“I challenge Oburu to check facts and history to know who was where, when and at what time. He should research on who was doing what operation and when. Nkaissery was not involved in that operation. The matter has even been investigated by various commissions," Mwenda said as quoted by the Star.
