ODM leader Raila Odinga has challenged KDF soldiers operating in the perilous Pokot, Baringo and Turkana borders to strictly adhere to the rule of law.

For the past two months, soldiers selected from KDF have been carrying a disarmament exercise in the region along with GSU officers.

But the former PM claims that the soldiers have been targeting innocent civilians whom they reportedly harass and even kill.

“The sole duty of KDF is to protect civilians from brutal attacks waged by bandits. We do not want to see them targeting civilian population for o good reason.

“It is really sad that people who run to get protection are turned to be suspects. The government knows where bandits are found and they should reach them,” he said at a rally in Chemolingot.

Early this year, Deputy President William Ruto issued police with directives to shoot and kill suspects, a reason why locals booed him when Jubilee team visited this week.

Believed to be a Jubilee stronghold, Baringo County could witness yet another epic battle between the two major presidential candidates.
