Opposition leader Raila Odinga was at pole position to beat President Uhuru Kenyatta in the recently concluded elections, says DP William Ruto.
Electoral body IEBC announced Kenyatta as the winner on Friday having garnered 54 percent of votes to Odinga’s 44 percent.
And at a Church in Nairobi on Sunday, Ruto said Odinga was almost winning were it not prayers by President Uhuru Kenyatta during their last rally at Nakuru.
“I want to admit that God has worked on our way. We were almost losing it until the president knelt down and prayed in Nakuru,” he said.
Ruto, who is set to be deputize Uhuru for another five years added: “They were not easy to beat and when you look at the margin, you must thank God.
Opposition team has since dismissed the results and vowed to make a major announcement on Tuesday, which many will be waiting to hear.
Constitutionally, presidential election losers who do not agree with the results are tasked to file a petition in the Supreme Court.
