Immediate former Kenyan UN Habitat ambassador Sam Ongeri insists that ODM leader Raila Odinga will easily floor President Uhuru Kenyatta on August elections.
Although Odinga is yet to be unveiled as opposition NASA flag bearer, sources within the coalition intimate that he is the preferred choice.
On Monday during issuance of direct nominations at Kasarani, Ongeri said the veteran leader stood a high chance given his track record.
“Sometimes reality is difficult to admit. I have seen Raila work to improve the livelihoods of Kenyans when he was in government,” he said.
Ongeri, who was cleared to contest for Kisii senatorial seat further said: “The country has done badly under Jubilee and time has come to change leadership the mood on the ground favours Odinga.”
Prior to his defection to ODM, Ongeri was a key point’s man for President Uhuru Kenyatta in vote rich Gusii region.
Jubilee Party strategists have identified both Nyamira and Kisii counties as tossups despite voting for Odinga overwhelmingly in 2013 elections.
