Several candidates allied to opposition leader Raila Odinga have reportedly won in ODM primaries that were marred with delays and rigging in South Nyanza Counties of Migori and Homabay.

The fiercely contested primaries could split the Orange party with projected losers accusing party leadership of imposing leaders on them.

In Migori governorship, provisional results from Kuria East, Kuria west and Rongo projects incumbent Migori Governor Okoth Obado as outright winner with former Rongo MP Ochilo Ayacko trailing. No formal results have been announced though.

Things weren’t different in Homabay as incumbent Governor Cyprian Awiti was declared winner with over 46,000 votes beating his close challenger Oyugi Magwanga who reportedly scooped slightly over 14,000 votes.

ODM National chairman John Mbadi pulled a surprise in last minutes by beating former aide to Mr. Raila Odinga Carol Omondi, who seemed to be leading throughout the night.

Outspoken Suna East MP Junnet Mohammed was declared inner having floored his opponent John Pesa by scooping over 14,000 votes almost a double to Pesa’s 8,000 votes.

Senator Moses Kajwang was announced winner of Homabay senatorial elections after garnering a shocking 1, 754 votes, a figure that is much far less than turnout in governorship elections.

Millie Odhiambo, who lost one of her supporter on Monday’s ugly nominations was also declared winner in Mbita constituency.
