Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati says he will not be intimidated by the government adding that he will continue ‘fighting for the rights’ of ordinary people.
Hours before inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Arati was reportedly put under house detention moments before sneaking out of the Kileleshwa home.
“They surrounded my house like the worst criminal in Africa. No one was allowed to get near it until I sneaked out,” he said.
Arati added: “I will not be scared by such desperate attempts to subvert freedom of expression and movement. We shall continue fighting hard.”
Although police had denied the incident, Arati said, his focus will be on fighting to ensure NASA leader Raila Odinga takes over.
“Power belongs to people and no matter how you try to torture us; we shall continue pushing for the right course. Raila must be sworn-in,” he added.
At Nairobi, Arati is one of top NASA mobilisers and the intention to restrict his movement may have been occasioned by the government’s attempt to block NASA rally at Jacaranda.
