Slightly a fortnight after President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted a number of Gusii leaders in Nakuru State Lounge, fresh details have emerged over participation of Mwancha Okioma, a close ally of Raila Odinga.
In his fresh push to woo Gusii region, Uhuru met with various opinion leaders to strategize how to beat Raila Odinga in both Kisii and Nyamira Counties.
But it’s the attendance of Okioma, a onetime Kitutu Masaba MP who lost in Nyamira governorship to John Nyagarama on a PDP ticket.
“He attended the function and pledged to support Uhuru’s reelection. It was a great boost for us,” said a Jubilee official who spoke in confidence.
Prior to elections, Okioma’s posters were flooded with Odinga’s photos and at a point, he met Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula in a closed door meeting.
The source further says Okioma was given task to coordinate Jubilee activities in both Nyamira and Kisii counties but it is not yet clear whether he will be officially received on Thursday.
“You will be seeing more of him this coming weeks and I am sure he may be even unveiled on Thursday,” the source said.
Efforts to reach him were however futile since he could not respond to texts or phone calls from the reporter.
On Thursday, Uhuru will tour both Nyamira and Kisii Counties where he is set to formally usher in a number of NASA leaders who have since joined Jubilee.
