Veteran politician Dalmas Otieno’s political career may be well as over after losing in ODM primaries to little known Paul Abuor.

In fiercely contested elections, Mr. Otieno lost substantially to Abuor by a margin of over 6,000 votes hence becoming the first high profile politician to fall victim of ODM wave.

While still winning ODM nominations is a guarantee of a victory in August, Abuor has to undergo a rigorous campaign exercise.

In 2014, the former Public Service minister was at loggerheads with ODM leader Raila Odinga and was plotting a political party by the name Kalausi which brought tension to the Orange House.

With his fierce criticism to Mr. Odinga however, Otieno has been silently in most political activities and it was a surprise that he opted to go for ODM primaries rather than his perceived Kalausi party which has never materialized.

Otieno, a former KANU strongman re-energised himself in 2007 after a back fall in 2002 after beating Mr. Ochillo Ayacko.
