Jakoyo Midiwo, incumbent Gem MP, has questioned opposition leader Raila Odinga’s ability to lead the country following underwhelming ODM primaries in Luo Nyanza.

Last week, the three terms MP became one of the major casualties in the elections after losing to businessman Elisha Odhiambo, results which he has since contested.

Without making direct references to Mr. Odinga, who is also his first cousin, Midiwo questioned the ability of Odinga to lead the country arguing that he has failed to show leadership in ODM.

“If I cannot get justice in ODM even with his presence (Raila Odinga), do you really expect him to lead us well in case he wins in August?” asked a furious Midiwo in a rally at Gem.

He added: “ODM has been infringing our basic rights yet he remains mum at a time he should offer leadership. He has left the party to crumble and that is not a good sign.”

And even without unveiling his next course of plan, Midiwo hinted running as an independent candidate given that the High Court ruled out chances of party hopping.

“The will of people cannot be overridden by few individuals who think they can dictate us. We shall ensure that our voice is heard in the ballot,” said Midiwo.
