ODM Deputy Party Leader and Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya took his message of Luhya unity to Bungoma County where residents turned up in large numbers to receive him on my way to Tongaren no Saturday.
Oparanya who works with Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho as ODM deputy leaders, was headed to Kakamega County Assembly clerk Patrick Wafula Kamwessar's home in Tongaren, Bungoma County, to condole with his family following the death of his father, the late John Kamwessar, 87.
While in Bungoma, Oparanya reiterated that he will pursue his quest for presidency in 2022 in collaboration with other Luhya leaders and supporters throughout the country.Oparanya who is serving his second term just like Joho, said he would vie through an ODM party ticket.
His ambitions puts Joho's similar ambitions on a weighing balance, after he declared that he would vie for presidency through ODM, in 2022.
Joho is optimistic of unwavering support from the coast region and other parts of the country, in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.However, ODM party leader Raila Odinga, Joho's close ally, has remained mum on who between Joho and Oparanya, should be endorsed.
Pundits however, say that Joho stands a better chance since he moves crowds.During the tour on Saturday, Oparanya was accompanied by Ikolomani MP, ODM's Bernard Shinali and several MCAs.
