Despite results being streamed by IEBC showing an impending defeat for opposition leader Raila Odinga, his next announcement will shape the politics of the country.
On Wednesday, Odinga has dismissed the figures by IEBC adding that there was no election and that ‘Uhuru Kenyatta’ must go.
Currently, he is trailing at 44 percent with President Uhuru Kenyatta headed for a landslide victory with over 77 percent of votes having been counted.
Having ruled out of challenging the outcome in Supreme Court, Odinga’s announcement will be closely monitored by millions of Kenyans given the number of huge following he commands.
Already, a group of rowdy youths had thronged in the streets of Kisumu, Mombasa and Nairobi to protest the outcome of election.
Constitutionally, he will be required to file a court petition just like in 2013 should IEBC declare Uhuru Kenyatta president elect, a move that he has already disowned.
Arguably, owing to his huge following that cuts across the country, his next statement will determine the fate of the country given that his parallel tallying centre had projected him as the outright winner.
