Opposition leader Raila Odinga is facing uncertainty in his quest to stamp authority in Gusii politics after disastrous August outing.
Despite the region being predominantly ODM zone, Odinga lost to Uhuru Kenyatta narrowly in Nyamira, a region he has controlled for decades.
And the petition launched against Governor John Nyagarama of Nyamira has literally hindered campaigns in the region, with his lieutenants spending most time in court.
“It is not easy for us given that Nyagarama, who is the senior most ODM leader is facing a petition in court,” observes youth leader, Nyambega Gisesa.
He adds:”The governor’s focus has been interfered with and this has paralyzed our campaigns. Hopefully we shall get back on track soonest.”
Jubilee through former Kitutu Masaba MP Walter Nyambati has petitioned Nyagarama’s reelection on grounds that elections were not held in line with the law.
Similarly, Kisii County Governor James Ongwae is facing a petition launched by Chris Obure of Jubilee, a move that is further derailing campaigns in the region.
