''On behalf of my team and myself I, in front of this congregation gathered here, tender my apology to my brother,'' Odinga said plunging the auditorium in which the prayer breakfast was held into total delirium.

Kenyans have been reacting to the gesture of friendship displayed by Odinga to his erstwhile political arch-nemesis President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Garissa residents have also weighed in on the lovely development that has been, by and large, well received by Kenyans across the political spectrum.

Here are a sample of their reactions:

''I nearly shed tears when I heard Raila Odinga utter those lovely words,'' Jasmine Dulo said.

''I am very happy and I totally endorse this,'' Kamar Abdi said.

''This is what the country needs more of. The country can now move forward and focus on bread and butter issues,'' Salman Abad said.

''Let us continue to pray for our leaders so that the spirit of common understanding can take hold in our country,'' Salo Mohamed said.

''What you saw being demonstrated there was leadership and that is the leadership that this country needs,'' Medina Kamal said.

''I have never been prouder of the two leaders,'' Mohamud Balo said.
