Despite misfortunes in Busia County and a section of Western region in ODM nominations, the trend was not different either in Nyamira County.

In a region perceived to be Odinga’s stronghold, voting was delayed in several polling stations resulting to early departure of ODM enthusiast.

A survey across the county indicated that voting in a section of polling stations started at noon with several other polling centers closing shortly after hundreds of members could not find their names in the party register.

Earlier, a standoff ensued between leading gubernatorial candidates James Gesami and Governor John Nyagarama over the register to be used.

With Nyagarama keen to have only ODM members voting, Gesami demanded that both OD and IEBC registers administered to allow locals participate fully I the elections.

Also, a section of polling centers among them Nyachichi, Kerongo and Tombe had voting cancelled due to lack of authentic registers or mysterious disappearance of ballot boxes.

The county constitutes of four constituencies namely; West Mugirango, North Mugirango, Borabu and Kitutu Masaba.

ODM national treasurer and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, Women Representative Alice Chae, North Mugirango MP Charles Geni and Borabu parliamentary aspirant Nyandoro Kambi were issued with direct party tickets.
