ODM's Raila Odinga has backed President Uhuru Kenyatta's statement that all state officers must undergo a lifestyle audit following massive corruption in government institutions.
Uhuru made the remarks on June 14, during commissioning of Dongo Kundu bypass in Mombasa, an event that was attended by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho alongside other local leaders.O
On Monday, Odinga backed the calls, saying he was as well ready for a lifestyle audit, saying "audits are good for the ODM party and the country."
The ODM party leader and former Prime Minister indicated that his party was still an opposition party and that would work with government to eliminate corruption.
"I am ready for it (lifestyle audit). We (ODM) are no longer whistle-blowers. We will work with the government to execute the war against corruption. We remain in the opposition and take the position. What is good for Kenya is good for ODM. A lifestyle audit is good for Kenya. We are in it fully," Odinga told ODM delegates.
He was speaking during an ODM retreat in Mombasa for members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Parliamentary Group (PG) at the Flamingo Beach Resort in North Coast.
