Dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta, secession and official retirement from the busy world of politics are the only moderate options remaining for Raila Odinga, argues political commentator Gideon Mamboleo.

Although he had pulled out of the race and subsequently failing to file a petition over President Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory, Odinga maintained that the ‘war’ was far from over.

“Our people may have died but it is not yet over. This is the year when the electoral injustices must end,” he said on Sunday in Nairobi.

But with little constitutional and legal options, Odinga is walking on a tight rope owing to the fact that he is also a respectable international figure.

At an interview on Tuesday, Mamboleo however, says Odinga cannot be written off given the wide options within the constitution.

“I have seen his team working on People’s Assembly and these will eventually res on secession. It will destabilize Uhuru’s victory.

“However, he can still have a formal dialogue with Uhuru or even decide to retire from politics all together. Whatever he will do, will still have a lot of impacts,” he says.

Already, 11 counties controlled by the opposition have already passed the People’s Assembly Bill, delegitimizing Uhuru’s leadership.
