Opposition leader Raila Odinga may after all not feature in a fresh presidential election should IEBC consider one, says Gideon Mamboleo.
Slightly two weeks to October 26th elections, Odinga bolted out of the race citing inability by IEBC to adopt a number of issues he had raised, a move that could further complicate political situation.
And having made four unsuccessful attempts, Odinga may push for electoral reforms and opt to support his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi.
“He was calm and he just insisted on electoral reforms. It could be tact to keep Jubilee guessing and finally settle on different candidates.
“He kept them in darkness on Supreme Court case and that worked. He now wants to leave legacy and apparently, he will exit politics on a reform agenda,” he says.
Although IEBC is yet to give its official position on the new twist of events, legal experts say the situation could compel them to call off October polls.
A Mudavadi – Kalonzo ticket, he says, could paralyze Jubilee team given that its supporters may not have that enthusiasm to vote.
