Wiper Party Secretary General Hassan Omar has vehemently opposed Opposition party ODM's call for the six-piece voting pattern.
Led by party leader and NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, the outfit has on several occasions urged the electorate to consider their candidates gunning for various seats across the country during the August polls, thereby rubbing NASA affiliate parties the wrong way.
In a telephone interview with The Daily Nation Newspaper earlier in the week, Omar dismissed ODM's call, arguing that it was a clear indication that the party fielded unpopular candidates.
“The call for voting six-piece ODM candidates in Mombasa is not justified. It is wrong for leaders to herd people into party slogans to get sympathy,” he stated.
“It is a scheme to get voters’ sympathy, otherwise they will not win a single seat in Mombasa. It’s not business as usual. It’s not 2013,” he added.
The lawmaker is eyeing the Mombasa gubernatorial seat on a Wiper Party ticket.
He is seeking to unseat governor Ali Hassan Joho of ODM.
