Former Makadara Member of Parliament Benson Mutura now claims that opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is hiding the recent reconciliation between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the party leader and opposition chief Raila Odinga to secure its entry into government.
Speaking on Radio Jambo Saturday, Mutura said that a section of leaders allied to the party are using the newfound unity to associate themselves with the ruling Jubilee side, claiming that the some are on record claiming to be in government.
This, he noted, is a plan to disrupt the Jubilee succession plan for the approaching 2022 general election, saying that ODM is out to prevent the planned power transfer from Uhuru to his deputy William Ruto and insert its own.
''ODM is using the unity between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga and their joint national cohesion to get closer to power and, therefore, disrupt the planned succession between Uhuru and Ruto,'' he said.
He added that the move will soon prove futile, cautioning ODM leaders against insinuating that they are in government as they are not.
''As Jubilee members we will not allow anyone to come in with an aim of disrupting our 2022 plans. They should stick to the opposition and prepare for the elections from the other side,'' he added.
