The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will be driven by a new motto aimed at rallying its members towards the same course.
In an announcement made by the party’s new Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, the members will have to rally behind the party under the motto “ODM First”.
This, Sifuna said, intends to create a solid backing for the party from its members and focus on strengthening its organs from the grassroots to the national level.
“Our motto is ODM First. Before we can take care of our friends and other interests we have to first consider the interests of the party,” said Sifuna.
“Our focus is to strengthen the party and reclaim its glory. We have set in place mechanism and we have the spirit to accommodate all those who have felt disenfranchised in the past," he added.
Sifuna further stated that he believes the team in place will help deliver the party’s vision and ensure democracy is realised within the party.
“For a long time they (party members) have been forced to stay silent when they should speak, stay put when they should move or whisper when they should shout,” said Sifuna, adding that his leadership will promote members' freedom to express their views.
He further noted that his intention is to revamp the party and restore its glory as “the biggest and most popular party in Kenya”.
Sifuna was flanked by ODM Deputy Secretary Generals Agnes Zani (Nominated Senator) and Florence Mutua (Busia Women Representative).
