The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has now asked for forgiveness amongst its supporters in Homa Bay County following the bungled nominations in the senatorial by-election. ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba said that the party is aware many supporters were dissatisfied by the manner in which the party nominee Moses Kajwang was handpicked. Namwamba said the party is remorseful and asked for forgiveness from party members and gave a promise that future party nominations will be done well. He urged the county party supporters to forget the past and forge ahead by ensuring the ODM candidate wins the Thursday by-election. “We will carry out a proper nomination devoid of rigging and violence in future, but for this forgive us,” he said. Speaking to the press in Kisumu, Namwamba said the by-election is critical for the party. He said the voting pattern on Thursday will be a springboard for the Kajiado central parliamentary by-election and for the 2017 general election. Namwamba said Kenyans will determine by the outcome of the by election if ODM bedrock of Nyanza region is firmly behind their party leader Raila Odinga.
