Lamu West MP aspirant Rishad Amana has blamed the political witch hunt against Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho for his recent predicament.

Amana’s sentiments come after he was summoned by the office of the Director of Criminal investigations (DCI) to record a statement over inciting remarks he made during a political rally at Mkunguni Square in Lamu town on March 18, 2017.

The aspirant on Tuesday presented himself at the Lamu Police station alongside his lawyer Alfred Omwancha, ready to record a statement in regard to the accusations leveled against him.

Speaking in Mkunguni after recording the statement, Amana said there are leaders hatching a plan to bring him down, adding that the charges will be thrown out soon because he is innocent.

“They asked me questions claiming they wanted clarification on statements that I had previously made and I made sure to clarify everything. Know my enemies are at work but I assure them that I am ready,” said Amana, as quoted by Baraka FM.

The parliamentary aspirant took a swipe at the Jubilee government, accusing it of using unacceptable ways to silence leaders opposed to their rule.

He further said that he will stand strong amidst the tribulations facing him as he seeks to rise to power in August.

“I remain unbowed. Let them do all they can and want but this time round we want to assure them that the election shall be fair and just in a manner desired by all Kenyans. Let Jubilee play it anyway they desire but we shall meet at the ballot,” said Amana.
