An ODM ward representative aspirant conceded defeat after he lost the bid to his political competitor.
Phillip Baya, who was eyeing the Bamburi ward seat, was edged out of the race by Robert Onyiro.
According to a speech going rounds online, the hopeful accepted the defeat in the most mature manner and pledged to remain loyal to the party, something that is very rare in the Kenyan political arena.
Below is the full speech:
“I, Phillip Baya, Bamburi ward MCA aspirant for the ODM ticket, wish to thank all the great people of Bamburi Ward who turned up yesterday (Saturday) for the nominations exercise. We did not win as we hoped to but all is not lost…ODM still got a worthy candidate in Robert Nyiro who won the ticket and I congratulate him immensely for the good fight.
With that said, I also wish to clarify and insist that I’m still loyal to my party and to my leaders. I pledge my loyalty to my party leader, My Deputy Leader and my governor HASSAN ALI JOHO…and lastly my MP RASHID JUMA BEDZIMBA.
We win some, we lose some…but it is not all over till it’s really over. My fight to push for my MP and my governor will still continue steadfast and stronger than before.”
“Thank you and god bless you all,” read the speech.
