Lamu West parliamentary hopeful Rishad Amana has advised Coast residents against supporting Jubilee Party in the August elections.
He said the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration has done nothing much to benefit the region's residents.
“Coast people must be vigilant. It will be a big betrayal for Coast people to vote for Jubilee. From Diani to Lunga Lunga, what economy are we thriving on?” asked Amana during a phone interview with the Star on Sunday.
The ODM politician said Jubilee is fighting Coast leaders who are opposed to their plan to “kill the region’s economy”.
He said the ban on night fishing in Lamu County, bad roads and the proposal to set up a dry port in Naivasha are part of a wider scheme to kill the region's economy.
However, the government has dismissed claims the dry port to be set up in Naivasha will kill the Coast region’s economy.
