An Aspiring South Mugirango MP has dismissed calls from the Ministry of education to postpone examinations bearing his name set to start next week on Monday.
This comes barely a day after education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i interdicted a number of education officials from Siaya County after they allegedly allowed area Governor Cornell Rasanga to sponsor exams with his portrait attached.
And on Thursday, Mr Silvanus Osoro insisted that the examination to the Gucha South district should not be interfered with the Ministry since they had nothing against delivery of content.
“I have received calls from top officials from the Ministry of education saying that the exams should not take place. The perception is primitive and uncalled for. I have sponsored similar exams even when I had not declared my interest," he said.
Mr Osoro added: “I really wonder why the exams should be postponed merely because of a portrait which doesn’t affect the content of students. Time has come for us to sometimes stick with reality. The exams should go on as scheduled,” he added.
Osoro said he invested a lot of cash in the program and said it would be a waste of resources should the exams be nullified on a baseless ground.
