ODM has been barred from carrying out a repeat of nomination exercise in Budalangi constituency, Busia county.

This follows an application that was lodged by Raphael Wanjala, an MP aspirant who was declared winner in the primaries held April 13.

The political party’s tribunal asked the party’s election board to halt the exercise until the application is heard.

ODM had earlier said it would conduct a repeat in three polling stations in the constituency.

However, Wanjala alleged the move was a scheme to lock him out of the contest.

“The exercise was carried out peacefully and without any reported malpractises leading to my declaration as a successful candidate to carry ODM flag,” said Wanjala.

He noted that the party called for the repeat after his competitors filed a complaint before the party’s appeal tribunal challenging his victory.

“The tribunal made the decision in a manner that stinks of inducement or influence,” he said.
