Siaya county independent gubernatorial candidate Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo has lamented that the ODM party is bullying independent candidates in the region.

Appearing before County IEBC Returning Officer (RO) Ruth Kulundu, over violence that saw ODM party leader Raila Odinga's rally end prematurely in Rarieda, June 26, Gumbo said he was not behind the incident.

It is alleged his supporters stormed the rally, and caused fracas that saw several people injured, after Raila called for six piece voting pattern, in support of all ODM candidates.

"The truth is that ODM is bullying us. Independent candidates are not allowed to campaign peacefully because ODM is bullying them," Gumbo who lost to governor Cornell Rasanga during April primaries, told Kulundu, Friday.

Apart from Gumbo and Rasanga, gubernatorial independent candidate Florence Aluodo  and county commissioner Josphine Onunga were also present in the meeting meant to end differences amongst the competitors.

ODM candidates have been calling for six piece voting especially in the Luo Nyanza region, an area perceived to be a stronghold of the party leader, who is also the Nasa presidential candidate.
