Speaking on Wednesday during Citizen TV’s JKL show, Muluka claimed that the Raila Odinga led-party plans to abandon the agreement that was reached at by NASA in the run-up to the 2017 polls. The political analyst said the agreement is valid for five years and is subject to consideration for renewal after the same period. Muluka said according to the agreement, ‘the person who was the coalition’s presidential candidate in 2017 will not be eligible for presentation as the coalition’s flagbearer in the event the coalition agreement is renewed’.“The party that produces a presidential candidate in 2017 will not be eligible to produce a candidate in 2022,” said Muluka.Muluka argued that the agreement was the reason why the coalition has been avoiding engaging in the 2022 succession debate. He claimed that ODM leaders were tarnishing the image of NASA principals Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi by terming them as betrayers and cowards so as to get out of the agreement."This is why you’re being told not to talk about 2022.This is why we are seeing all this drama and people being painted in very bad colours. People are being made to smell and stink so that you can say, these cowards cannot run for this office in 2022 let Baba be the one to run,” said Muluka.Muluka said ODM’s latest move of unveiling its new slogan ‘ODM Kwanza’ was a clear indication that the party was planning to go it alone in 2022.
