The repeat of ODM nominations in Mombasa which was planned for today (Friday) has been postponed yet again, the party director of communications Philip Etale has confirmed. In a statement on Friday, Etale said the exercise which was to be conducted in 19 polling stations will now be held on Saturday April 29 following a mix up in the names of aspirants."A problem has been detected on ballot papers for the repeat of the exercise," Etale said in a statement. The nomination exercise in three constituencies namely: Changamwe, Jomvu and Kisauni was marred with irregularities which led to the rise in tension that culminated in the arrest of Changamwe MP Omar Mwinyi over claims of violence. The controversy surrounding the aborted exercise further escalated when two Senatorial aspirants declared themselves winners despite the fact that the results for the position were put on hold until a repeat exercise is conducted in the three sub-counties.Majority of the aspirants in Mombasa have already aired their frustrations with the repeated postponement of the exercise, which has now threatened to split the ODM camp in the region.
