National Assembly Minority Leader and ODM chairman John Mbadi may, after all, skip the much-publicised swearing-in of his party leader Raila Odinga scheduled for next Tuesday.

With NASA insisting on going ahead with the plans despite warning from the State, Mbadi will be required to collect the medal for Elder of Golden Heart (EGH) as recommended by the state.

Parliamentary Honours Advisory Committee had nominated Mbadi along with Kipchumba Murkomen for the prestigious state medals which are issued during Jamuhuri Day.

Last year, despite friction between ODM and President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee, Mbadi also picked Chief of Burning Spear (CBS) award in a similar function.

Also nominated for CBS awards are Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, Nominated senator Agnes Zani and Kisumu Town west MP Olago Aluoch both from NASA coalition.

Understandably, the nominees must collect the awards in the stipulated date in person where the president recognizes their service to the country.

Should he opt to join Uhuru, Mbadi will not be the first ODM leader to defy his party leader given that Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok has attended numerous functions along with Jubilee leaders.
