ODM director of communications Philip Etale has slammed the media, saying it must be on the lead in informing Kenyans and not inciting them, causing unnecessary anxiety.

Citing an incident where one of the Nasa principals, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka presented his nominations papers to the party's National Elections Board (NEB), Thursday, Etale said the National Super Alliance (NASA) is not a political party.

There were reports that Klonzo's move, would see him defect from Nasa.

''There are no immediate plans to make it a political party. It is an alliance of political parties that share same ideology,'' he said.

''Therefore, as independent political parties, duly registered by the Registrar of Political Parties like Jubilee Party, they are obligated to carry out their activities as required by law,'' he added.

Etale clarified that Kalonzo's move to present the documents was procedural and within the law and the Constitution of the Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM).

He clarified that other political parties within Nasa; ODM, Ford-Kenya and ANC would do the same.

''For instance, in the ODM's NEB records, Party Leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga was the sole applicant for the position of the President. He paid the requisite amount of Ksh.1M, filled the forms and returned them, quietly just like aspirants for other positions have done,'' disclosed Etale, in a communication.

He further urged ODM members and the entire Nasa family to understand what the law says about application for party nomination.

Etale assured that whatever was happening in the affiliate parties was nothing to cause alarm over the coalition's partnership.
