The ODM party has defended its decision to nominate the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary General Wilson Sossion, to the 12th parliament.
Sossion's name was submitted to the IEBC, to be nominated as an MP representing workers.ODM said it was the first political party to have a workers' representative, in parliament."The ODM alliance with organised labour and workers remains strong and enduring and true. We are the first political party to nominate a representative of worker to parliament and we are proud of it," said the party, in a communication."Our nomination of Mr. Wilson Sossion is testament to our friendship with, and understanding of, the struggles of other professions, and confirms our commitment to have more voices speak on raised platforms where laws are made and policies decided,'' read part of the statement, Tuesday.The Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga-led party further assured the public that a Nasa government would raise their wage bill, and employ more people, after it wins the August 8, polls. "Nasa led government will keep you on the job, raise your wages or pull you out of unemployment," said ODM.
