The ODM party has dismissed a survey published by one of the local dailies, that president Uhuru Kenyatta would be elected President if elections were to be called on January 17, 2017.

According to the publication published on the said date, Uhuru would win by 54 per cent, while Opposition leader Raila Odinga would come second by 32 per cent.

"Whereas we acknowledge the role played by pollsters in any given society, we have noticed that in Kenya, such polls are commissioned or sponsored by regimes as a diversionary tact whenever they are in a crisis,'' said ODM Director of Communications, Philip Etale.

Even if the poll as published by the Star newspaper was genuine, Etale said the sampling was suspect given that only 16 out 47 Counties were involved. He said those Counties sampled are known to be Jubilee strongholds.

"Again, the figures in terms of percentage do not add up making it difficult for anyone to believe the so called research,'' he added, terming them 'skewed'.

In the polls, Kalonzo Musyoka would get 3 per cent, Musalia Mudavadi 2 per cent, Moses Wetang’ula 1 per cent, while undecided voters were 18 per cent.

"Clearly, this does not add up and makes nonsense of the discipline of social research. Such lies in the name of survey give opinion polling a bad name,'' said Etale.

As the Opposition, Etale said they would focus on the ultimate goal which is capturing power and which is inevitable.
