[Photo|@gladyswanga]The ODM party has distanced itself from statements by some of its MPs, that the Salaries and Remuneration Commission should not try to implement the pay cut proposal.ODM Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen, has indicated that rationalization of remuneration of members of parliament as recommended by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, is a constitutional duty, and ODM is not opposed to it.He said the Raila Odinga-led party stands for equity and prudent management of public resources, and can therefore not promote or be seen to promote wastage, avarice and inequities in the Kenyan society. Ong'wen categorically stated that the position taken by ODM MPs do not represent the party's position or that of the National Super Alliance which ODM is an affiliate."We stand for equity and prudent management of public resources. We cannot therefore promote or be seen to promote wastage, avarice and inequities in the Kenyan society," he said, in a statement, Thursday.ODM further encouraged its members in different leadership positions to always attempt to mediate their personal interests with public good that constitutes the substructure of ODM ideology of Social Democracy.ODM's Homa Bay County Woman Representative Gladys Wanga and Mbita lawmaker Millie Odhiambo are among ODM MPs who are opposed to pay cut.
