ODM elections in Nyamira were marred with confusion as thousands of party supports remained stranded in a good number of polling stations.
Rivals camps differed on the register to be used with both ODM and IEBC registers being on the center of the stalemate.
The governorship race, in which competition seems stiff between West Mugirango MP James Gesami and incumbent John Nyagarama.
Gesami, who also doubles as Nyamira branch ODM chair said both registers would allow residents to make a vital decision ahead of August.
“I have no problem as along as outsiders do not vote. This is an exercise for the people of Nyamira and all registers will allow people to make a sound decision,” he said.
But on his part, Nyagarama maintained that only registered ODM members were legible to participate in the exercise.
“This is a pure party exercise and it will lose meaning if we introduce the IEBC register. We shall not allow situations where IEBC register will be used,” he said.
And despite a directive from Orange House that only party members participate in the exercise, the two registers were used across the county.
