ODM party has replaced Migori branch chairperson Philip Makabong'o with Suna East chair Phesto Ogwada after allegations that the former campaigned for an independent candidate.

Makabong'o was accused by the county's organising secretary Joseph Nyambori for allegedly defying party rules and regulations.

"We will not allow Makabong'o to be campaigning for non-party aspirants that show lack of respect to the party members and aspirants at this election period," he said on Friday.

Nyambori also warned other party officials that they would face the axe in case they are found working with non-party members.

“This will not only be to Makabong’o but to other officials who will be interfering with party regulations. We must remain steadfast to make ODM more vibrant,” he said.

Last week, Makabong'o held a series of campaigns for Migori gubernatorial independent aspirant Ochillo Ayacko.

He also warned NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga of voter apathy should he continue campaigning against the independent candidates.
