National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Amollo Odinga on Friday morning held a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss way forward for making the country a peaceful state.
Homa Bay county governor Cyprian Awiti on realizing the importance of the two coming together commended Odinga for making efforts to meet the president to discuss peace for the country.
“On behalf of the people of Homa Bay, I congratulate my party leader for taking this bold decision," he said.
During a regional meeting in Kisumu on Friday, governor Cyprian Awiti said the country will now be in the right state favorable for economic development after the peaceful meeting between the two political rivals.
“The country will now be in the right shape now that the leaders can sit together despite the long and difficult political period we have had,” governor Awiti said as quoted by Nation.
He added that ordinary Kenyans could not make such a move and because the top leaders have now made the move, the country is on the right track and better things are yet to happen.
“It is a decision that ordinary people cannot take. We are very encouraged and motivated by this because it will open our country to better things. This is a welcome gesture," he added.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Odinga have showed Kenyans that peace is all the country needs to move ahead in terms of economy and internal and external relations.
They agreed to work together in uniting Kenyans.
