Turkana governor Josphat Nanok has opposed NASA leader Raila Odinga's plan to lead anti-IEBC protests on October 26.

Nanok asked his constituents to defy Mr Odinga's calls, urging them to maintain peace ahead of the upcoming presidential repeat polls.

He observed that Kenyans should not be divided by political leaders.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mr (Raila) Odinga should put the country first and negotiate so that there is peace in the country,” he said.

The County chief's remarks were reiterated by Turkana Central MP John Lodepe, warning residents against participating in the protests.

“I don’t agree with Raila on demonstrations. Don’t protest. Just sit at home. If we demonstrate police will shoot you and we will destroy the little investment we have in our growing town of Lodwar,” he stated.

The two leaders made the remarks during Mashujaa Day celebrations hosted in Lodwar.
