A governor allied to opposition party ODM is being fronted to become Deputy William Ruto's deputy in 2022.
Amason Kingi (Kilifi, ODM) is among the country's current serving leaders who are topping the list of people likely to deputize the former Eldoret North MP in 2022 when he takes his first stub at the presidency.
Kingi is a strong politician from Coast region and has of recent been pushing for the DP to go strong in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta when he exits State House in 2022.
The list was on Monday published by a leading local daily after it emerged that former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth is also being fronted to be Ruto's deputy during the poll.
Kingi two weeks ago hosted Ruto in Kilifi where he rallied Coat residents to back the DP's bid for the presidency saying his leadership abilities have been tested and proven. He said Ruto has everything it takes to lead Kenya.
The county chief has also been pushing for a political alliance between Ruto and leaders from Coast region.
"This time round, the decision on where Coast will go will be made by the people," Kingi said recently when he hosted Ruto as he toured the Coast.
