An ODM governor has falsely claimed that the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) does not have a station in Voi. Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, while trying to criticise the SGR project — that connects Nairobi and Mombasa — claims that a Voi resident has to take a matatu to Miritini, Mombasa to board the train. “If you want to board the SGR train, you have to take a bus to Miritini,” the governor lies in a viral video. Voi is one of the 7 stations along the Nairobi-Mombasa route. There is a dedicated SGR train that will be stopping at all those stations, and those to be added, to pick passengers. Kenyans online heavily criticised the Kilifi governor. “For those who don't know the meaning of stupid here is a vivid example...These are the leaders we are going to vote in for another five years!!!!,” said Mizzk Rk. Patryk Naomi said: “…see why I have an issue with the way NASA conducts it politics. Now this is a governor whose voters were dying of starvation just the other day and instead of him standing and talking about his track record or rather how he is going to mitigate the problems they are going through, he is busy here spreading some stupid propaganda.”Edward Anamps agrees: “Kingi is just a greedy politician and a picture of what we have in NASA.”Local people expressed their sadness that the governor was lying openly about something that all can see. “Very sad, kiongozi kusema uongo mchana jua likiwaka!” said Haji Mwakio.
