John Nyagarama, the Nyamira governor is yet again trending in local social media groups following his latest language confusion.
The jovial governor is synonymous with lingual mistakes and sometimes last year, he breached local Swahili dialect when he said ‘Monto Momoja’ instead of ‘mtu mmoja’ loosely translating to ‘one person’.
And that time, ODM leader Raila Odinga had visisted Nyamira County during the homecoming of Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, who had been detained earlier over alleged hate speech.
But exactly a year later on and under compromising situation, Nyagarama failed the test of the day in front of thousands of opposition supporters in Gusii stadium on Wednesday when Odinga yet again toured the region.
Nyagarama, who recently won the ODM nominations could not utter a familiar slogan used in NASA rallies ‘Tibiim’ but instead he sent the thousands into laughter when said ‘Bichana Tiggim’ instead of the usual intro as ‘Vijana Tibiim’.
Although his latest confusion could not deter him from addressing the crowd, a section of local social media users trolled him online for the better part of Wednesday night.
“Our governor should learn to master these political languages all the time. His handlers should prepare him,” said Johnson Mageto.
But others sympathized with his old age: “He tried because that slogan is youthful. I stand with him,” added Evelyn Nyang’au.
