Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has dismissed claims that he defied a court order that demanded reinstatement of nine county officials.

Kisumu Industrial Court Judge Maureen Onyango ordered Nyagarama to appear in person on January 25th in relation to contempt of court charges.

But i a quick rejoinder, Nyagarama denied blocking the nine employees from assumption of duty adding that the petitioner, Vincent Omao based his arguments on malice.

"The employees were in an annual leave and I think they have reported back. It is sad to receive summons that are overtaken by events.

"I do not fear being jailed if at all I violated a court order. In fact, I will be willing to serve the said civil jail. I respect the law," he said in a statement.

According to Omao, the county boss had delayed implementing the order thus his decision to file contempt of court charges.

"I will take him head on because he failed to respect the court order. He only did so after many days."
