Governor Amason Kingi has received a major endorsement after the Kilifi Professionals Association agreed to back his candidature ahead of the August general election.
More than 300 members of the association assured the county boss, a close ally of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, that they will rally the electorate behind him.Led by Chairman Karisa Yaa, the team hailed Kingi for his exemplary development record, adding that he deserves another term in office to complete the projects he has initiated.“We’ve been watching from a distance. We feel it’s high time we added our voice and expertise to the journey of developing the county. We feel certain issues are not going on well, but the progress is encouraging,” said Yaa, as quoted by The Star.Other members who attended the event include Gabriel Katana (Pwani University), Josephat Mwatela (University of Nairobi) and Titus Kadere (formerly of the Coconut Development Authority). On his part, Kingi welcomed the endorsement and urged residents to support him in developing the county.“Don’t expect to see skyscrapers in Kilifi if you don’t want to return home and build your county. You need to be part of the journey,” he said.Kingi is among the governors who are likely to retain their seats if opinion polls are anything to go by.The race has also attracted Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro and Former Labour CS Kazungu Kambi.
