Governor John Nyagarama has been ordered to report to a Kisumu Labour court to answer to charges related to contempt of court.

In an application filed by Vincent Omao, Nyagarama is accused of failing to implement a court order that demanded he reinstates at least 9 county government officials.

"That in view that the application seeks orders inter alia for respondents to personally appear in court to answer to contempt charges, it's imperative that he is served to attend.

"For these reasons, the application to be served upon respondents and application be heard on trial on January 25th," read part of court order.

Among those still yet to report to office are County Secretary Eric Onchana and 8 Chief Officers whose contracts are yet to expire.

Should he be found guilty over contempt of court, Nyagarama risks hefty fines and probable imprisonment.
