Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto not to rush projects in their quest for re-election.

Citing the Sh1.2 billion Sigiri Bridge in Budalang’i that collapsed on Sunday, Kingi, a strong critic of the Jubilee government, argued that rushed projects will endanger the lives of Kenyans.Speaking during a meeting with opinion leaders at Kambe-RIbe, Kingi said Uhuru and Ruto should allow engineers to work on projects at their own pace and not hurry them with the aim of seeking votes. The Governor said the projects will only assist Kenyans if they are properly constructed, the Nation reports. The collapse of the Sigiri Bridge has continued to attract mixed reactions from different factions.Leaders from the opposition have accused the Jubilee government of rushing projects with the aim of wooing voters. Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi also asked Jubilee not to implement projects in a hurry as we near the election date.“If the government has no project to show in the Western region for the five years they have been in office, they should stop playing politics with the lives of our people by inspecting shoddy projects,” said Mudavadi, as quoted by the Star.
