A former Nyamira County Executive Committee member has threatened to move to court should the county government fail to pay him sendoff package amounting to Sh2.9 million.

Jones Omwenga, who was in charge of education department until his dismissal, is among eight (8) executives who were shown exit by Governor John Nyagarama.

“We shall move to court should the county government fail to release the money by Monday,” Omwenga told reporters.

He added: “the Controller of Budget had approved the money even for the Governor and the Deputy who have since been paid. That is our right and it is not negotiable.”

Those who were retained by Nyagarama in his second term are John Omanwa (Roads), Gladys Momanyi (Education) and Peris Mong’are (Agriculture).

Governor Nyagarama, a close ally of ODM leader Raila Odinga, has however remained mum over the matter.

Should the government implement the order, at least Sh29 million from coffers will go to the plan that had been approved by the CoB.
