Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama risks jail following his delay to implement court order that demanded reinstatement of 8 Chief Officers and a County Secretary.

A Kisumu High Court issued injunction against dismissal of the county officials in a case that was filed by human rights activist Vincent Omao.

Investigations shows that the officials in question were sent on a compulsory leave and non is yet to be recalled despite the order.

But in an interview with reporters, Nyagarama defended his action insisting that leave is part of duty requirement.

"They are on a leave and when time comes, we shall recall them. That is duty procedure," said Nyagarama.

He further said: "People have a tendency of politicizing every matter and that culture should be condemned."

Should he dismiss them, the court ruled, the county government shall pay in fully amounts as indicated in their contract.

Sources say that the governor is plotting to replace the officers despite the court reprieve.
