President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Jubilee Party brigade are free to campaign in Nyanza, an ODM Governor has said.

Speaking to journalists at his offices, Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga welcomed the Head of State to visit his county as he drums up support for his reelection bid in the August 8 general elections.

The President is expected to lead Jubilee Party forays in the county, which is the home of opposition leader Raila Odinga, on July 14.

"It is within the President’s constitutional right just like any other candidate to hunt for votes anywhere in Kenya," Rasanga said.

"I will put politics aside and embrace Uhuru as the Head of State," the Governor said on Friday.

His remarks comes barely a week after the National Super Alliance (NASA) flag bearer Raila, was granted a rousing welcome in President Kenyatta's home county of Kiambu.

Rasanga, however, complained that the county security apparatus have sidelined him in the preparations for Uhuru’s visit.

He claimed he has confidential information about his opponent who is hatching plans to disrupt Uhuru's tour, but the security agencies have ignored him.

"My opponent has paid youths to put on my campaign T-shirts to cause chaos at the meeting. I am supposed to share such information with the security team. But how do I inform them when they have sidelined me?" Rasanga was quoted by the Star.
