The ODM and Jubilee Party have intensified their scramble for the Gusii vote with the two outfits expected to hold rallies in the region next week.
ODM leader Raila Odinga will tour Kisii County mid-month where he is expected to rally support for the party across the region and culminate his tour in Nyacheki ward where he will campaign for his party’s Nyacheki ward candidate.
And a day prior to Raila’s visit, Deputy President William Ruto according to Jubilee Senatorial aspirant Joseph Kiangoi, will hold a youth conference at Ekerenyo in Nyamira.
“The DP will be attending a youth summit on October 14 at Ekerenyo where we will be discussing the youth agenda. We want to be part of politics of development and not rhetoric,” said the EALA member.
Kisii County ODM Youth League leader Erick Janganya on Wednesday maintained that the party will defend its territory tooth and nail.
“Gusii region is an ODM zone and we will not allow strangers to invade it. We are launching our campaigns soon and that will start by a youth summit that will be graced by our party leader,” he said.
The region has an estimated voting population of 1 million voters and Jubilee party is keen on wrestling it out from the ODM control.
